The latest annual global expenditure on peacebuilding and peacekeeping totaled just $47.2 billion — about 0.52% of total military spending. Set against a $2.7 trillion figure for world military expenditure, that puts peace work at roughly 1.7% of military spending — military outlays outweigh it by about 57 to 1.
